Feathers fly as dump becomes a bird centre

JUST a short distance from the hotels and tourist amenities lining the Red Sea shore resort of Eilat, a disused rubbish dump has been turned in to an internationally recognised birding and research centre nowadays.

Visitors to the Eilat International Ornithological Centre on the outskirts of Eilat are left in awe at the way station for migratory birds that has developed through a joint initiative under the wings — pun intended — of KKL-JNF, the Israeli Government Tourist Corporation, the Nature Parks Authority and the Eilat Municipality.
