Side of Netanya with reminders of the dark days

THE Israeli city of Netanya, a popular resort for both Israelis and overseas tourists, is mostly known for its beautiful, seemingly never-ending beaches.

However, in the more southern cliff-hugging part of Netanya, in an area that has been vastly developed over the last few decades, there is a spacious open area of greenery.

Known as Victory Park, the beauty of the clifftop vantage point clashes with a number of deeply emotion-challenging memorials placed at a distance, dedicated to the victims of the Nazis.
