Historic Beersheba market soon to be biggest in Israel

BEFORE Covid, I used to love going to the shuk.

No matter what area of Israel I was in, I would seek out the local outdoor market, and then wander around, smelling the herbs and tasting the fresh fruits and vegetables on offer.

I love hearing merchants yelling out the prices of their wares.

Recently, I heard that the shuk in Beersheba was going to be given a facelift, so I decided quickly to do a tour there before everything changed.

The Beersheba shuk is somewhat of a time capsule, a meeting of different cultures, where people with different stories mingle as they peddle their wares.
