Two became one as Anna created her latest play

PLAYWRIGHT Anna Ziegler was working on two different plays when she realised they should be married together.

The result of the amalgamation is The Wanderers, which opens at London’s Marylebone Theatre today.

“I was working on two different plays in the summer of 2016,” Brooklyn-born Anna said.

“One of the plays was about an arranged marriage in the chassidic community. I’d always been interested in writing about an arranged marriage.

“And I was also working on a play that was very loosely inspired by a correspondence that had come out shortly before in the New York Times between Natalie Portman and Jonathan Safran Foer.”
