A Good Night is Paar for the course as Ben takes the stage

AMERICAN television star Ben Rappaport’s latest role is someone who may not be so well known on these shores, but is often cited as the godfather of late night talk shows.

In Good Night, Oscar - which runs at the Barbican in London from July 31 to September 21 — Ben plays chat show host Jack Paar, who died in 2004, aged 85.

Set in 1958, the play shows Paar interviewing his favourite guest, Jewish actor and pianist Oscar Levant — played by Sean Hayes, who won a Tony Award for his performance on Broadway.
