Lindsay’s pride of Lions as he prepares for a theatrical role

ONE may think, 13 years on from its release, that Nigel Lindsay would be tired of talking about his role in Four Lions.

The Chris Morris-directed hit film, about four hapless suicide bombers in Yorkshire, saw him star as the scene-stealing Azzam ‘Barry’ Al-Britani, a radical — and antisemitic — Islamic convert.

“Talking about it doesn’t irritate me at all,” Nigel said. “I am so proud of it.

“When people come up to me in the street — which is not that often — I can usually tell from the age they are what they want to talk to me about.

“With the young Muslim boys it is always Four Lions.

“I’ve had plenty of free breakfasts in Muslim-owned cafes!”
