LETTERS
Vision of peace

I NOTED the letter in last week’s JT headed Think it Through. It would have been good for the writer to think it through before forwarding it to you.

I am amazed that he seems to suggest Hitler and Stalin were people with right-wing views because they certainly did not care about how many people died from their actions and decisions.

Is he suggesting that Israel’s right-wing government does not care about the people who have died in the region?

Is it also likely that politicians in Israel’s governments do not ask themselves and consider “how things will play out” before vital and critical decisions are made?

It's pretty easy to criticise from the sidelines.

Israel does have good relationships with some of its neighbours and it is certain that none of these countries “wants to throw that away”.

But if the Palestinian leaders will agree to meet Israeli leaders for face-to-face peace talks, perhaps they will be able to arrive at a solution that all will be prepared to live with, even the population of the West Bank and Gaza. Now that's a vision worth thinking through.
