The former Orphaned Land guitarist has launched an online crowdfunder.

“The fourth chapter of my band’s journey, which we already started creating, is a direct continuation of the band's previous albums, but with many changes compared to its predecessors,” Sassi said.

“The album will be recorded with the influences of ‘Oriental Rock Orchestra’, which is our live show these days. It is an ensemble of nine musicians, the perfect combination between East and West, acoustic and electric.

“The ensemble has been together for nearly seven years, in studios and touring abroad. To me it’s an actual family, including Danielle Sassi, my 16-year-old daughter, who’s playing the flute.”

The group is recording the album at Black Rock Studios on the Greek island of Santorini.

“Through the journey to Greece, I return to my roots,” Sassi added.

“My late grandfather, the original Joseph Sassi, was born in Salonika, and I have a Greek side that sets the tone for quite a bit — the creation of the bouzoukitara, the Balkan rhythms in the songs and the endless inspiration.”

Among those taking part are Haken vocalist Ross Jennings, pianist Roy Zuaretz and violinist Michael Greilsammer.

Donors can choose from a number of treats including a masterclass in Israel with Sassi and his band, private music lessons in Israel or Madrid, a lecture by Sassi on the world of music in the technological era, invitations to the launch party and even a private concert at the donor’s home.

Sassi, who invented the Bouzoukitara musical instrument, began his solo career in 2011.

His debut solo album, Melting Clocks, featured former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman.

It was followed in 2014 by Desert Butterflies, which included Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal.

Sassi released his third album, Roots and Roads, last year.

Earlier this year, Sassi featured on Israeli progressive rock band Soul Enema’s latest album Of Clans And Clones And Clowns.
